Speaking of the troops....Any truth in this email?
Guess I won't be drinking Starbucks anymore!!!

Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they
wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees and to
request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied,
telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that
Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would
not send the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not
support them by buying any of their products! I feel we should get this
out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks,
but that doesn't mean we don't support the men and women on the ground fighting
street-to-street and house-to-house.

I f you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and no one will never know.

Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS . . ALLOW IT TO BE
PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT! ! !

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit,
the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it
was close by for water for the survivors and workers and Starbucks charged them! ! !

JUST A NOTE TO THIS; STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL
MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.
GO GET 'EM AMERICA. STAND-UP FOR OURSELVES!

The reason the flag is "backwards" on their uniforms is because it is supposed to illustrate how the flag would look if they were charging into battle carrying a flag. The flag would fly behind the staff and the stars would be in front. The image to be portrayed is one of forward movement - not backward. They wear the flag on their right shoulder. If they wore it on their left shoulder - the flag would be displayed the "right" way. Hope this helps clear that up for everyone.

About the flag question. My understanding is so the stars, representing the states, is closest to their heart.

I was just going to leave a comment regarding the flag and notice that Penny beat me to it. You go girl! :) If you want a more "lengthy" explanation that says the same thing, see this site: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/theorderlyroom/f/faqflag.htm

Thanks for sharing photos of the cards we've sent to the troops!! It's so nice to see their faces...if only we could do more!!
Have a great day!

This thing about Starbucks not supporting our troops is false! I was also outraged & went to look it up & found out its false. Sgt. Wright wrote his friends another letter saying so & you can read all about it, here is the link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/starbucks.asp

I for one am glad to know that it was a rumor that had been going on for a few years. Just wanted to clear that up. Thanks everyone.

Thanks Dawn (& thank your hubby) for sharing pics of our troops & knowing that all the cards that were sent were so appreciated, it touches the heart, don't you think?

Wonderful pictures Dawn~ It's nice to see that they were able to celebrate in some way having a tree decorated there~

Thanks for posting more of these wonderful pictures, Dawn! Love seeing them!

Hi All...just looked up the Starbucks thing on Snopes.com Urban Legend...and they say it is false. See more information and the story here...
