What a Day yesterday … We all had such a fabulous time at the shelter yesterday I just can not stop talking about it .. So instead of me talking about it right now, I have uploaded all the photos of yesterdays event HERE on my web shots gallery under Hope center November 24, 2006 .. Also for your viewing pleasure I have upload our Thanksgiving day with my Family also on my web shots HERE please when browzing the galleries please read the captions under each photo this may help explain the photo in a little detail .. I cant wait to go help again at the Hope center .What a Blessing .. Today is another busy day I must finish up my santa wrappers today Once I do that I will start on making all my packs of Christmas cards and hubby packs .. Which by the way what do you think of this little title for those cards for hubbys " 6 PACK FOR HUBBY " get it 6 pack of cards Hee! Hee! pretty funny huh? Well I have the title, Now I need to get to making them ..
Yesterday I did get a chance to sit down for awhile and whip these little Cho. Nugget holders I made 53 of them so far .. I used the tag punch, and I used Bravo burgandy for caramel nugget and always artichoke for Peanut butter nugget I will add this info to the place card with the price so everyone will now what type of cho. is inside the holder..
I was able to finish up my" From Santa" packs also yesterday I got 10 made and thats it .. Man there is alot of work in them .. not really hard Just alot of steps , and alot of cutting .. so thats it for these babies I will be selling these for 6.00 each
I am going to be doing alot of stamping today making cards hopefully for the most part ..
I will be running to get photos developed for Bro Bishop at the hope center and for Shawnee .. Since I was the " Offical photographer of yesterdays events Hee! Hee! So many people were coming up to me and asking me to take their photo .. How great is that ! I also met a man named Walter which didnt want his photo taken BUT he drew me a picture of Jesus You have got to see this( its on my webshots link above ) . Walter drew it in maybe 2 mins flat WOW it is fabulous!! He told me he used to work for the Big 3 ( GM, Ford, Crysler) here in Michigan as their sketch artist .. Have you ever really thought about the homeless ? No different than us .. so many times I have heard that why dont they JUST get a job .. many of the homeless I met yesterday have many other problems then just getting a job for most its mental illness .. We never now until we have walked in their shoes .. I visted with a young woman and her daughter at the shelter yesterday .. At the Shelter we also got to hand out the socks we collected at our church how exciting this was .. you would have thought we were giving them 1,000 dollars.. we also got to see the clothes closet open up each person could take up to 2 items from the closet and this Closet was HUGE the whole basement was used for this purpose.. Bro Bishop runs a tight ship at the Hope center .. which I am sure he has been down the road with people taking advantage of them. 1st thing when we arrived we were told NOT to give money to anyone and do NOT give out seconds of the food.. sure enough a couple asked me for more cookies thank goodness Bro Bishop was standing near bye cause he came over and put his hand on this mans shoulder and said Now how long you been coming here Robert? he just laughed and then Bro Bishop said you know we dont give out seconds… I guess I am alittle Native But all I wanted to do is give them more especially if they were asking ya know ? (But I followed the rules ) and I guess they play on that when guest come to help out .. I would have to grow some pretty tough skin If I were to work there all the time … This hope center is ran by Bro Bishop , Bro D, and 2 Fabulous ladies in the kitchen Gail and Shawnee OH my talk about cookin LOTS of food there were probably close to 80 people( not including our group that went and we all got to eat also.. can you imagine cooking for 100 or so people YIKES!! ) there ready to eat a hot dinner which was Spaghetti ( with Hambuger & pepperoni yummy .. you gotta try it ) Salad, roll, corn , turkey and we brought desserts and also lemonade My hats off to Gail and Shawnee these 2 women are awesome .. We were told exactly how much to give out, such as this spoon full level in size and No more .. What a blessing .. Oh an the trip down to the Hope center in Downtown Detroit we got all mixed up Thank goodness Andrew was driving with us crazy backseat drivers he was probably never so glad to get to the Hope center and let us OUT of his truck .. I swear you put us 4 women together we can have a blast no matter what it is.. Even going down a one way street when there was a heavy fog talk about funny and scray at the same time .. and get this Andrew flipped his very 1st U turn in the middle of the street.. we all laughed so hard I almost pee’d my pants while holding on for dear life .. Then we lost the church van with all the kids .. we took the right and Steve merged on to the left exit we sat there waving our arms and yelling dont go that exit ( Yea like they could hear us across I- 75 ) then some how we were sitting in the packing lot down the street from the hope center ( But we didnt now cause we were still looking for the Hope center at this time ) and out of the blue there goes the church van driving right past us .. Again with flying arms yelling out WERE OVER HERE!! still no avail so bad we all didnt have the windows rolled down .. anyway they take me up to the baptist center to see if that was the AKA: Hope Center as I am walking up to the door Low and behold the nose of the van peeks around the back parking lot ..I started waving my arms then and they saw me then Praise God .. and It turned out it was the Hope center.. WHEW!!
What an awesome day !! I cant wait to go back ..
Sorry so long everyone I told you I cant stop talking about it .. It was truly a Blessing
Until later… Happy Stamping and count your blessing today !!

Dawn- I’m thrilled that you got to have such a wonderful experience. My oldest DS did this excact this in San Francisco 2 summers ago and everyone came home with a totally different perspective. I wish I could have gone but it just wasn’t possible. Todd was deployed but came home 2 days prior to son getting home so we didn’t tell him and he was so surprised that he cried!
Anyway, girlie…great job yesterday! The Lord is smiling on you and your big heart!
Oh my, love that tag punch, eh?
Hi Dawn,
i have never commented before, but i always look at what you are up to because you are a great inspiration to you. you are such and amazing artist. i was wondering if you could send me the dimensions of your chocolate nugget holders, length and scoring marks. i have tried from your picture but cannot get them the correct size for some reason. much appreciated, keep up the amazing work.
