Todays video Has no stamping .. BUT if you are anything like me when it comes to measurements on your cutter This is the video for you .. I have been wanting to do this type of video for awhile since I have heard from soooooo many of you that you are like ME in this department .
I can't begin tell you how refreshing it is to hear that I am not the ONLY one that had issues with finding where 5/8" is on my cutter Or is that 1/8". I will admit I had this issue for a long time that is until My hubby gave me a (purple ) tape measure ( from Home depot ) that had all the 8's measurements on it and for the longest time I NEVER thought it was actually sink in ~ Never EVER!!! But trust me IF I can do a video on this and overcome this Huge issue YOU will too 🙂
Just like anything , The more you use the measurements the easier it will become . Just like finding the 1" on your cutter you too will be able to know where ALL the measurements are .
I posted the photo above so you can either click on photo to enlarge and then you should be able to right click and print the photo from there OR just Make one for yourself so you will have it in view when your making your projects.
I used the 1"-2" as a sample photo / video BUT the measurements are all the same since it will either be 3, 4, 5 etc… I will also have this video Link at the very top of my Video link page for easy finding in case you need to refer back .
Thank you for all your encouraging ph calls , emails , comments You all are sooo AWESOME! I remember back to when I mentioned I use my cutter the other way ( upside down , backwards etc… Yes I heard it all ) which many told me that they use it that way as well . Its just so Great to know I am not alone in using things a little different than other stampers .This is what is sooo wonderful about Stamping since there is Really NO wrong way ~ Just different ideas .
My Hope for this video below is that you will NOT have my Long time issue with measurements .
For my video today I use a hand made chart to have a better view of the measurements ( in my Video the chart is simular to the one shown above But the one in the video has No 16's on it even though I touch on those increments as well on this video ) I also use my cutter off and on for this video as well,
I bought my Paper cutter # 104152 from Stampin Up! I have also been asked about the other cutter I use in my videos This cutter was also bought from SU! over 5 years ago which is No longer available That cutter is my Old faithful, But my old faithful cutter Only has the 8'ths and NO 16'ths.The new paper Cutter mentioned above have all increments on it .
Your cutter is really one of the most important stampin tools you will invest in and both SU! Paper cutters ROCK ( IMHO= In my humble opinon )
Tabletop paper cutter # 106959
Have a Fabulous Thurday. I will see you all again tomorrow with a New "Stampin" video .

Morning Dawn!
This is so confusing but it helps…I’m going to make myself a “cheat sheet” to keep on my work desk…thanks for taking the time to explain….Susan
Ahhhhh fractions. I guess if you understand fractions this is easy. I taught them for years. Thankfully I have no problem with this. Thanks for helping those that struggle. 🙂
Trish
You are so funny. I always use my cutter upside down, there is no way I am leaning across the table to get the perfect measurement. My cutter luckily has the 1/8 & 1/16 on it. The bad news is, that is a lot of little lines for my eyes to find. LOL. Love your blog. It makes my day to see how much fun you are having. It gives me inspiration. thank you.
This is great as I struggle with this all the time. I love the cheat sheet idea, now why didn’t I think of that handy little helper. You’re the best.

Thank you!!!! My husband also bought me a tape measure will all of the lines on it because he got tired of me asking him all of the time. He said that I should have learned that in school but I had no desire to know. It was easier to ask him **LOL**
This is great Dawn!!! Thank you so much, your the greatest!!!
Thanks Dawn. The first time I used the cutter I didn’t know that it has an extension (DUH!!!)
This lesson is perfect, my husband will be thrilled because I won’t have to ask him again.

you guys need to get with the program and go metric – this stuff messes with my head!!
Thank you so much for sharing, that definetely helped. I thought I was the only one that didn’t know what a 1/8 & 1/16’s measurements were. They should totally teach tape measure class somewhere in school! Thanks again!
Thank you….Thank you….I work in an industry where we measure windows on envelopes all the time. Thank goodness I am not in the quote dept, but now THANKS to your video and explanation I will be able to practice better and reading the ruler. I have searced on line “how to read a ruler” with not any GOOD results, YOURS IS THE BEST…do a U Tube video!
